Journey and coming to Ayodhya
Glory to the Lord, travel continuous
Over a thousand years across different lands
Practising silence, meditation strong
Naturally is the unseen coming to be seen
In the outskirts of the city of Purimtal
Like a tilak on the forehead of Ayodhya
Was the garden of Shakatmukh
Glorious and vibrant in the east
Under the banyan tree, the base attractive
Its many branches very beautiful
Seeing the Lord sit in its shade
Wrote nature an epigraph new
Man was inseparable from the tree
Between them affection grew
Man even attained salvation because of the tree
The tree too extended a helping hand
Man loves trees
Trees are the basis of his life
Becoming the stimulus for enlightenment
Gentle leshya,4 gentle conscious mind
City dwelling created a distance from the tree
Established a difference between man and nature
Near the man-made house of comfort
The tree stands as the source of faith
Under the banyan tree the Lord lived
The never-dying light of knowledge
For three days he fasted
And rested in his soul’s abode
The new experience of mindfulness5

And pleads with the intellect
Why do you awaken today
the sleeping lion, O Adhiraj!
If total bliss is awakened
You will be left without a ripple
Life will lose its allure
The ego will become a burden
You speak the truth, son of man
You have the secret for understanding truth
Friend, not within my control
is to awaken knowledge pure
My territory has been transgressed
My inner eye has been opened
Wisdom has its own lands
Barred is the entry of the ego there
Go seek shelter elsewhere
Blessed will you be and independent
The outside world is everyone’s base
The doors to which always open are
